The ‘V’ Day

‘V’ Day that is Valentine’s Day is considered a special day in everyone’s life who believe in love and relationships. It is the most awaited day of everyone’s life. As the month start, the streets are covered with gifts and cards for the valentine day and it indeed made everyone happy. Why so much joy? Why do people rejoice at the very talk of love and valentine? I sometimes wonder what exactly people do on this day and wonder what the feelings like. Perhaps it’s considered one of the special day and the right time to confess their love and to let them know how special they were.

It was valentine eve and I just couldn’t stop myself from thinking what lovers might do. Perhaps a lot of surprises are awaiting them, and indeed a lot of gifts. Wow! It just seems so amazing and enticing to celebrate something like this. Though I haven’t had an opportunity to do something crazy like this, but the very thought of it made me smile, even without a date I wished to have fun with my friends and mark this very event as something special.

The day before the valentine, I just went for a walk with some of my friends. We made a small round to the market side and it was not surprising to see so many students rushing towards gift shops to arrange something special for their loved ones, i.e. chocolates, soft toys, cards and many more. And at times it made me long for those gifts, I too wished to get lots of chocolates and cards, but in no way it was possible.

We are three friends; we share the same room and are in fact best friends. Where the day was marked a special day for all, for the three of us it was just another ordinary day. No date, no plan, nothing! We made a quick round towards the market area, bought some snacks and headed back to our hostel. It was the eve of valentine and since my friends didn’t want it to be dry; we had earlier arranged for some snacks and a bottle of wine, so we took it out, sat near the heater and celebrated in our small and simple way.

The next day, it was Valentine’s Day and the moment I entered the college gate, I could see smiles and happiness everywhere. The glitter in the eyes and a broad smile was all I could see; wow the feeling was so great. I wondered why I was experiencing this happiness, I don’t expect any gifts, I don’t have a valentine, and yet I felt something good. May be this was the charm of this very day that even without a valentine I got to experience this feeling and the excitement.

Therefore I have no regrets of not having a valentine or not getting any surprises, because the happiness that I felt, the good feeling that I had, the excitements that a saw in everyone, all this made me have a good valentine and indeed the best one.
